Chief Matt Quinteros

Chief of Police Matt Quinteros

Greetings! My name is Matt Quinteros and it is my honor to serve as your Chief of Police here at Godley ISD Police Department.  Godley ISD Police Department is a newly formed police agency for which I am proud to be a part of the inception, inauguration, and cultivation.  I want everyone to know as your Chief it is my highest priority to provide a safe and secure environment for our children, staff members, and visitors at all times.  I hope to accomplish this while providing excellent protection, customer service, communication, transparency, and a strong, trustworthy relationship with all members of the Godley community.

I grew up in southern California attending public school, playing hockey, and regularly going on camping trips with my family.  I met my wife Pamela while we were both in high school and we have enjoyed many happily married years together since.  We have three children, all of whom attend schools here at Godley ISD.  Pamela taught second grade at R.B. Godley Elementary up until the end of the 2023/2024 school year when she left to pursue a career outside of education.  We moved to Texas in 2021, seeking to begin a new chapter and a different pace of life than what we had grown accustomed to in mainstream California. Still holding California near and dear to our hearts for its amazing sights and beauty, we found ourselves growing apart from the direction it was heading, especially when compared to our own personal life views and values.  We love our decision to move to Texas and continue to feel welcomed by people we meet.  It has been a refreshing and much needed change for our family.

I started my law enforcement career with the City of Montclair, which is located in San Bernardino County, southern California.  I was originally hired as a Cadet, which at the time was a part-time entry-level position. I assisted with administrative errands and the day-to-day operations associated with a functioning full-service city police department.  In 2004, I attended and graduated from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Academy (Class 156!) and I was sworn in as police officer with the City of Montclair.  After only a short time at Montclair, I became a certified instructor, providing training to all department members on weaponless defense tactics as well as taser use and policy.  I was a Field Training Officer and responsible for the training of new officers, lateral officers and reserve officers.

In 2008, I transferred to the City of West Covina, located in Los Angeles County, southern California.  As a Police Officer in West Covina, I initially worked patrol and after a few years I promoted to Detective.  As a Detective, I primarily worked cases related to child abuse and sexual assault, although my investigative experience and caseload spanned from thefts, burglaries, fraud and vandalisms, to elder abuse, missing persons, domestic violence, and I assisted on multiple homicide investigations.  After promoting to the rank of Corporal, I again trained brand new and lateral police officers.  I was selected for the department’s traffic bureau where I was responsible for investigating and filing criminal cases related to major injury and fatal traffic collisions as well as DUI arrest cases.  I also supervised several motor officers, cadets, and a community service officer.  While at West Covina, I was a part of the Special Problems Detail-Hostage Negotiations Team, as well as a range master/instructor, Glock & Colt armorer, Explorer advisor, and Honor Guard team member.

In 2023, I transferred to the City of Godley, where I worked as the School Resource Officer for Godley Independent School District for the end of the 2022/2023 school year.  I applied for the position of Chief of Police for Godley ISD Police Department and felt honored and blessed when I learned I was selected for the spot as department head. I plan on continuing to serve this community and this district for many years to come.  I am committed to always advancing my training and education in order to pass on my knowledge and experience to the future officers who will serve alongside me for this department, school district, and community.  In total, I have over 20 years of experience in the field of law enforcement with approximately 4,200 hours of training in a wide variety of topics. I have received my Advanced Peace Officer Certificate from the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training and I hold a Master Peace Officer Certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. I earned a Certificate of Achievement from the Robert Presley Institute of Criminal Investigation with a special emphasis in Sexual Assault. As required per Texas law, I am both SBLE (School Based Law Enforcement) and ALERRT (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training) certified. I take my calling to serve the community and the students of this school district seriously and will always strive to achieve and emulate the department core values!

Thank you for the opportunity and honor to serve you!
