What is color guard?
Color Guard, know nationwide as the “sport of the arts”, is one of the fastest growing activities in today’s high schools. It is a high energy sport that advances students into a new area of performing and visual arts including dance, gymnastics, theater, acrobatics, equipment manipulation (including flags, rifles, sabers and other props), and visual color. A variety of dance idioms are incorporated including ballet, jazz, and modern styles.
The Godley High school Color Guard is comprised of the GHS students, 9th-12th grade. Any student enrolled is eligible to join! In the fall the color guard participates with the Godley Marching band in football games and competitive performances around the state. In the winter, the color guard performs visual shows set to music in an indoor setting, and travels as a group to compete with other color guards.
