About Myself:

Hi! My name is Amy Simons and I teach 8th grade American History. I also teach the

7th and 8th grade Accelerated history classes.   I have been teaching at GMS since 1994.

Before coming to Godley, I worked for Birdville ISD from 1991-1994.

I graduated from Brewer High School (Bears) in 1986, and graduated from

University of North Texas in 1990.  I have a Bachelor of Science in Education and

Social Studies Composite.  I am Texas certified in Secondary Education (6th-12th),

Social Studies Composite and Life/Earth Science.  I have also met the state requirements

for the Gifted and Talented, and Teacher Technology Competencies Certification.

For the 2005-2006 school year, I was honored as Who's Who Among America's Teachers.

My husband and I have been married for thirteen years.  My husband is Interim Pastor at Willow

Springs Baptist Church in Alvarado.  He is also the T.A.P.  teacher at GHS.   We have a daughter,

and she attends GIS.  Our newest member of the family is Princess the Cat.

Outside of teaching history, I love spending time with my family. I also love attending church,

traveling to historical places, and playing softball.  Yes, I am a wildflower and bird geek! I love studying and

identifying wildflowers and birds.   By the way, the Dallas Cowboys are my favorite NFL team.
