Create an Illuminated Poem about Medieval Society-

Your Poem must address the question-"How did life in Europe change after the fall of the Roman Empire?"

Requirements-

1. Your Poem must reflect a clear understanding of the following topics-The Fall of the Roman Empire, the rise of the Byzantine Empire, the development of Feudalism in Europe and the Church's power in medieval Europe.
2. Your illuminated poem must have 8 short stanzas.  Each stanza may vary in length.  The reader should be able to have a real "feeling" for how life changed in Europe after the fall of the Roman Empire.
3. The first letters of each of the poem's stanzas will spell out the word, MEDIEVAL.  Therefore, the first word of stanza one must begin with the letter "M" the first word of stanza two must begin with the letter "E" and so on.
4. The initial letter of your poem, an "M" must be illuminated.  This means you must decorate the letter with designs, pictures, or symbols that represent medieval society.
5. You must use 8 words or phrases from the Word Bank on the project info sheet.
6. Your illuminated poem must also include illustrations and/or pictures.  These can be placed in the margins, in the background or within the poem itself.
