Description:

History 1302 is a survey course in American History from 1877 to modern day.  We will study economic, military, political and social history. 

Requirements:

You are responsible for reading the chapter(s) for the week.  You will also be assigned primary source documents along with discussion questions.  We will discuss these documents in class or online via blackboard.  Tests will be over lectures, book reading assignments and primary document reading assignments.  Tests will consist of multiple choice and essay questions.

You will be required to write a formal research paper of approximately 5-7 pages double- spaced and typed.  Margins should be no larger than 1” and a 10-12 point Arial or Times New Roman Font should be used.  Your paper will be based on a debatable issue in American History.  You will need to use a variety of primary and secondary sources to prove your position based on historical evidence.  Your paper must include a properly formatted bibliography and citations.  You may use MLA or Chicago/Turabian style citation.

Evaluation:

2 exams combining objective and subjective questions-17% each

Quizes-16%

Research Paper-25%

Comprehensive final exam-25%
