The Godley High School Student Council works to promote citizenship, leadership, promote human relations, cultural values, and to promote scholarship in educational growth. Everyone is encouraged to participate and teach others to be self motivators and leaders, not only in the school, but the community as well. Here is a brief over view of what we do.
In promoting citizenship, the student council strives to support democracy as a way of life in this country and the local community. The student council helps to promote law and order according to the laws of the country and of the school environment as well. All of our students need to learn desirable attitudes and continue with moral patterns and good citizenship. The student council is supposed to be a forum for student opinions and varied interests that can be understood by the student body as a whole, faculty, and the administration. It is important that all viewpoints are interpreted honestly. To support the idea of democracy, the student council does it’s best to practice the processes and procedures of democracy that this country has been founded upon.
The Student Council strives to help to contribute to the educational growth of all its students. The council encourages the students to achieve the highest success of academic learning and positive student involvement. To achieve this purpose the council stresses the need to learn and exhibit leadership qualities that will carry them beyond high school and college. With the qualities expressed here, the student council uses activities, such as sponsoring homecoming, to create a positive atmosphere of cohesion with the administration, faculty, student body, and the Godley community.
In keeping with the tradition of Godley High School, the Student Council encourages positive feedback and comments to the council. Members of the council are also encouraged to help students protect individual rights and responsibilities. Council members are representative of the student body and should do their best at promoting patriotism, loyalty, pride, and individual student development. Council members should always be on the lookout for opportunities to step up and be a leader and be a positive example to the rest of the school.
