Summer Music Camp

June 23-26

We are very pleased to be able to offer your band student a unique musical opportunity this summer.  We will be having our second annual summer music camp in Godley!  Last year’s attendance was great with over 60 students. The music camp is for any band student enrolled in band next year.  The High School camp (rising 9th grade –rising 12th grade) will be held in the morning from 8:00AM – 12:00 noon.  The middle school camp will be held from 1:00PM – 5:00PM. The High School Drumline will also have a camp this week from 8:00AM – 12:00 noon.  Transportation will be available to and from camp for an additional fee.

We are hiring professional musicians on the various instruments to come in and work with your band student. The cost of the camp is $35.00 for each student.  Transportation from your house to camp and back home will be $10.00(may go up or down depending on fuel costs) for the whole week (still $10.00 even if they only travel one way).  Even though this camp is not required it is highly recommended.  We hope you will encourage and support your young musician in this endeavor.

The camp will focus on developing individual skills on their instrument as well as group playing.  The High School Camp will focus on the show music for next year “West Side Story”.  The Middle School Camp will focus on the music we will be playing at pep rallies next year as well as individual skills.  Students will have the opportunity to sign up for up to 3 private one-on-one lessons with a professional musician for a fee of $10.00 a lesson in addition to their camp fee.  These lessons are not required for participation in the camp but are highly recommended.  There are a limited number of private lesson spots and are on a first come first serve basis, so turn your form in as soon as possible.
